Triton Digital, the global technology and services leader to the digital audio and podcast industry, has released new data around the consumption of AM/FM radio station streams in the U.S. during the COVID-19 dislocation.
Triton analyzed data from more than 3,200 Commercial Radio Broadcasters whose streams are measured by the Webcast Metrics® streaming measurement service, reporting on change in streaming during the week ending March 21st versus an average of the prior four weeks.
During this period, overall streaming of U.S. radio stations increased by 3% when compared to the average, with Streaming on mobile devices up 6% and streaming on Smart Speakers up 4%.
“During this time of unprecedented disruption of our daily lives, we are seeing an increase in the consumption of the streams of AM/FM radio stations driven by mobile devices and smart speakers,” said John Rosso, President of Market Development at Triton Digital. “It’s clear that AM/FM radio continues to be an important source of information and entertainment across devices at this time.”
