Audacy stations in Pittsburgh hosted their seventh annual “Giant Eagle Feed the Need Radiothon” benefitting Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank. KDKA News Radio 100.1 FM and 1020 AM (KDKA-AM), 93.7 The Fan (KDKA-FM), 100.7 Star (WBZZ-FM), Y108 (WDSY-FM) and WAMO 107.3 (WAMO-FM) came together on March 24 for the annual event, gathering listeners, partners and the community together to raise funds and help fight hunger throughout southwestern Pennsylvania.
“We’ve seen firsthand how the power of local radio rallies the community around causes that matter,” said Michael Spacciapolli, Senior Vice President and Market Manager, Audacy Pittsburgh. “Every year, the ‘Feed the Need Radiothon’ reminds us what makes this city special. Pittsburghers continue to show up for one another in extraordinary ways, and we’re incredibly grateful to our listeners, partners and sponsors who help make a real difference for families across our region.”
“We are grateful to once again partner with Audacy Pittsburgh and its incredible network of listeners and supporters,” said Lisa Scales, President and CEO, Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank. “‘Feed the Need’ continues to show what’s possible when an entire community comes together around a shared purpose. It’s a powerful reminder that every individual action can make a meaningful difference. The generosity demonstrated through this year’s radiothon helps ensure our neighbors across southwestern Pennsylvania have access to the nutritious food they need.”
“Giant Eagle is proud to once again support the ‘Feed the Need Radiothon’ alongside Audacy to benefit the important work of Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank,” said Jannah Drexler, Spokesperson, Giant Eagle. “As a Pittsburgh-based company, we realize the importance of stepping up to help our neighbors in need and, each year, we continue to be inspired by how our communities show up for one another.”
Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank was founded in Pittsburgh’s Hill District in 1980 to support those impacted by unemployment following the collapse of the steel industry. Today, it works with a network of more than 1,000 partner organizations across 11 counties to ensure individuals and families have access to nutritious food and resources that help build long-term stability. Audacy Pittsburgh partners with the Food Bank annually to help address food insecurity in the region.
