His first day on the morning show will be Tuesday, August 19.
Melissa, who has been hosting middays on Hot 96.9 since the station’s inception, will also be joining the morning team. Boston’s most beloved female radio personality, Pebbles, will continue to anchor the show.
Wiggins most recently appeared on WBZ 98.5 FM The Sports Hub in Boston, where he garnered new fame as “the man with an opinion on everything”, both inside and outside the sports world. In addition, he has served as an NFL analyst and has worked in other positions at Boston sports media outlets including Comcast SportsNet New England, WBZ- TV, WHDH-TV, New England Sports Network and the Kraft Sports Production show entitled “Patriots This Week”.
“Melissa and I have worked together for years, and I’m excited to have her back on the morning team,” said Pebbles. “I’ve also had the pleasure to get to know Wiggy over the past few weeks and I can assure you – we couldn’t be more different! It’s going to be entertaining!”
“I am super excited to be working with Pebbles and Melissa, as well as everyone else at HOT 96.9,” said Wiggins. “I can’t wait to do my part to help the Hot 96.9 morning show continue to be one of the hottest shows in Boston.”

Your new lineup is not as entertaining. Three hosts in the morning is very cumbersome! All my 96.9 friends are now surfing for a new station with pizzazz!

ReplyDeleteThe station should of stuck with Baltzar. They are a better duo. No need for a third member either as much as Pebbles and Melissa mesh it because too much with 3. I was excited about this station when I found it. The music choices are still better than Jam'n but they are making the same mistake but going in another direction.

DeleteHello - I keep listening everyday, wondering where the heck is Baltazar? The crazy laugh and personality, I miss it. So I went to Google to search what may have happened. Bad news, Balt is gone! What, what!? I didn't think the music was all that great, playing the same ole throw backs all the time, but no Baltazar, is really bad news! I hope you all enjoy listening to yourselves, cuz I'm out Hot 96.9 - Pandora here I come.

Evidently, they fired the very thing that made the morning show work, because the new show is not nearly as entertaining and motivating as when he and Pebbles were together. If they really wanted to go in a different direction, they should have tried expanding their very limited playlist. Stop playing the same 10 throwbacks, add a good hundred more to their repertoire, and bring Baltazar back. Til then, you just lost one.
ReplyDeleteI loved it years ago when it was Baltazar and Pebbles on 94.5, when I heard they were back together, I was thrilled. I thought Baltazar might have been on vacation except it was too long, today I did a google search and saw that you let him go. I don't enjoy the show anymore. Wiggy seems like a nice guy but he ain't Baltazar, very disappointed.

ReplyDeleteI did the same thing many others did and finally Googled what happened to poor Baltazar. Just like that, he was gone. Not dissin Wiggy, but come on people. WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING? I always listened to 94.5 with Pebbles and Ramiro, but once Pebbles left, so did I. Ecstatic to have found 96.9 with Pebbles and Baltazar as a team once again, and you do the same damn thing. You guys really, really messed this one up bad. When will you learn?? Time to say goodbye...again.
ReplyDeleteI don't listen to much common radio as I have a paid subscription to Spotify but the one station that I loved in the morning was 96.9 Baltazar & Pebbles. I think Wiggy is a knucklehead and not very entertaining at all. His opinions about everything are stupid and I hate the 3 personality equation with 2 females and then his dumbass. This just doesn't work, I think you will see a huge decline in listeners as is indicated by these comments. Not one person has said they loved this format.... the listeners are who pays the bills, not the radio personalities.

Now there are no more Baltbusters and you have removed all the old archived recordings from your website. That's 2 bad managerial decisions. I don't know what research you all did to make you think gettilng rid of balthazar would increase ratings, but you obviously aren't in tune with you listeners.

Balt Busters were the best part of my mornings. Looked forward to them on my way to work everyday. If I missed it I would stream the station at work just to catch it.
If you need help with song selections please contact me and I will help you out. There are WAY more than just 10 throwback songs you can play on the radio. When I heard 96.9 was going to be a throwback station I was SO excited because we have more than 20 years of HOT ass jams we can be playing on a reg without getting stale. But I was wrong. And management is WRONG for letting Baltazar go. If I were you I would double his pay and BEG him to come back to the show!
In case you missed it 96.9 is not a sports station. SO who gives a crap about bringing a football "insider" to a funny morning show?

I'm upset to see that 96.9 decided to let Baltazar go. I agree with everyone that the radio station made a bad move. I am moving to pandora for my music and entertainment.
ReplyDeleteAlthough I felt as though 96.9 mimicked that other station, I had much rather listen to Baltazar and Pebbles than Ramiro. The mornings are not the same without Baltazar. I find myself switching from one station to the next every morning. I was like everyone else who thought Baltazar was on vacation. To find out they decided to get rid of him is just sad. I don't know him personally but to think they had someone pick up and move back to a city they love just to be gone a year or so later was so wrong. I'm sure Baltazar will do great wherever he ends up. I'm no longer feeling 96.9 morning show and they need to do away with what you doing at the courthouse. That is the most ridiculous thing I've heard.
ReplyDeleteNot a fan! but I guess wiggy is younger and able to still party. BUT a great add to the station should be DJ Anthem. Plus I think the station is looking at the big picture. In 5 years Baltazar will be a old man and I wouldn't be surprised if Melissa takes pebbles place.

I used to look forward every morning listening to Balt and Pebbs on my drive from Mansfield, MA to Charlestown, MA and now, I have nothing, nothing at all. I am all cried out over this. I have moved on to another station. 96.9, you have lost a very loyal listener and shame on you. I wish Baltazar the very best!

Everyone wanted to support Pebbles and that's what he did as well as all of us. And this is how he is rewarded? I dissed 94.5 and I am over 96.9 which by the way I listened to at work as well as in my car. Over it. Sketchy, stank and grimmey! Yank the knife out of his back for God sake.

ReplyDeleteI am disappointed in the choice to replace Baltazar. He brought a uniquenes to your morning show, and even after years of separation, the chemistry between he and Pebbles on air was SPOT.ON. It wasn't broke, so there was nothing to fix! Shame on you for getting us all hyped up and enjoying Baltazar's return, only to sweep the rug from under our feet. Sometimes you need to remember that the listeners will always have the last word! Shame on you!

I agree I'm disappointed in her as well though not really surprised (she stayed with Jamn a long time after they gave him the boot too right?). I don't get it, the fans clearly love Baltizar why does he keep getting pushed out?? Did they really just bring him back to regain all former Jamn fans with the intention of kicking him out all along?? Shame shame... I'd much rather hear from him than this "Wiggy" person (who I gotta say I had no idea why he was of any importance until I looked this up...)

ReplyDeleteDam I just found out Baltazar was gone, I have nothing against wiggy but its clearly B had me going in the early am, this coming from a person that commutes a hour to work. I miss the Baltbusters and the sense of humor he had.. I would be cracking up in the car when he did them. Like everyone else Ill be using internet music from this time on. I doubt he will be back after being jolted twice by two stations he built up in the AM... I hope the best for you Baltazar. If anyone hears where he lands let me know Id toon in via internet radio to here that laugh and thos baltbuster.. Not a good move 96.9. how long will Pepples be their and I wonder if she had any imput on the daparture of the one that helped her succeed. ..

ReplyDeleteSo depressing. Now they have the second date update, which started out as unique and funny but now Melissa and wiggy are fighting for mic time and always making awkward jokes. I cringe, not because of all the awful dates but, because of the forced banter between wiggy and Melissa. None of it sounds natural and pebbles at this point is the only one who can get the caller to reply because Melissa and wiggy just think they're inside jokes are a good time for all. Balthazar understood his audience and his callers, this new crew isn't the best team.

Their show was great back then and recently but now it sucks! 96.9 management move was to increase their profit margin. Baltazar’s cost overhead got in the way of making more donuts. They brought him in just to prime the money pump only—and it worked.

It's funny how they attracted us to HOT 96.9 by putting two of our favorites together back again and than kicking us in the face by removing Baltazar and adding Wiggy who I am sorry doesn't belong on the Radio.......love Melissa but she should have stayed where she was at in the afternoon!! No longer a listener, now AMP 103.3 is the station for me and the kids!!

I was just listening to 96.9 and realized I hadn't heard Baltazar in a while and Googled and stumbled upon this article. It was SO nice feeling like I was listening to the same station as when I was a teenager and now I'm so sad. I'm sure the new guy is fine, but Baltazar and Pebbles had such chemistry and them together again really went well with the whole "throwback" theme they seem to have going at 96.9. Please get him back!!

Ever since Baltazaar left 94.5 I've been surfing the channels, when I heard Baltazar and Pepples were back together again, I told everyone. I was crushed when I found out he was gone. Now I don't listen to 96.9 anymore, I make my own CD's. I have an hour commute each way and listened to 96.9, and also at work, not anymore, who wants to listen to a dating service. Baltazar and Pebbles was 96.9, I guess you didn't get that.
ReplyDeleteBeen listening to Baltazar and Pebbles for as long as they have been together. I recently moved to FL and listen to 96.9 on Tunein Radio. My husband and I thought Baltazar was on vacation or something but just found out is was "sent packing." DISLIKE!!!!!! the second date update is HORRIBLE!!! Guess I will have to find a new station down here. Really miss you Baltazar. Hope 96.9 realizes what they did was a BAD MOVE and you return.

ReplyDeleteI been listing to Baltazar and Pebbles every since they started the morning show on JAMN94.5 and I though it was great then they let Baltazar go and Ramiro took over and the show was pretty good with Ramiro and Pebbles. Then one day I was listening and was like where is Pebbles and where is Melissa so I goggled it and read that they got let go by JAMN94.5 and are now on a new station Hot 96.9 which I liked very much because they had back together Baltazar and Pebbles. Then one day I was like what happened to Baltazar so goggled it found out he was let go and former New England Patriots player Jermaine Wiggins and Melissa would be joining the show. I been listening to it ever since and I don't mind them but totally think that they need to bring back Baltazar because the show is just got as good as it was with him there. The BallBusters were great and now we have something called the second date update totally not a fan of it and think that is a waste of air time. Now because they let Baltazar go I switch back and forth in the morning from Jamn94.5 to Hot96.9 because when certain things happen on one moring show it makes me switch to the other moring show how ever I seem to like Hot96.9 much better because they play tons of the old hits from the past as Jamn94.5 only seems to play todays new hits. One thing I would like to see changed is it seems that on Jamn94.5 they seem to play the same songs over and over and as I noticed Hot96.9 is doing the same. If you would try and play different old school songs though out the day and not the same songs every singe hour I believe your station will blow away Jamn94.5

ReplyDeleteWiggy's voice is as annoying as the name 'Wiggy'. Like, 'Wiggedy wiggedy wiggedy' wack! I am really curious as to why the dj's only play a select few of throw backs. How does one find this info out? I wish I was more schooled in producing radio stations because I would put the BEST one this area has ever had into affect. All the stations around the Boston area, not just 96.9, repeat songs WAY too much and talk WAY too much in the mornings. Why?
ReplyDelete"Childish" is probably the most accurate word describing their morning show. When Amp can have a more adult-friendly morning show than them, then this is definitely not the right direction for them to take.
ReplyDeleteI just don't see the appeal in this station anymore. It used to be an interesting mix of music, now it's just a gimmick with derivative music.
I'm not impressed with the new add. Should have just kept Baltazar. So now that yall have screwed up, imo, just let Pebbles and Melissa be the morning show. It would be soo much better!

This morning show lineup is the most boring crew on any radio station that ass into in the morning. You guys do the series bet which has already been done in Connecticut since I travel and I was going to the same bit you guys do it 2 or 3 days after Connecticut station does it what the f... this morning show crew is a big yawn ..
