Philly Radio: WMGK’s Turkey Drop Provides Holiday Meals

There are thousands of families in the tri-state area that need the help provided by 102.9 WMGK’s 12th Annual John DeBella Turkey Drop more than ever this year.

WMGK’s partner in the Turkey Drop, Cityteam Philadelphia, has seen a 25% increase in new families that are signing up for holiday meal assistance this year.  The Cityteam staff has been humbled by the embarrassment that many of those seeking their help have expressed.  Those in need want to be able to provide for themselves but due to certain circumstances have no one else to turn to.

On Tuesday November 26 from 6am to 9am, Classic Rock 102.9 WMGK’s morning host, John DeBella, will broadcast live and accept monetary and turkey donations during this year’s Turkey Drop at Love Park (16th & JFK).

The John DeBella Turkey Drop is the largest, one day food gathering event in Philadelphia.  Last year’s Turkey Drop raised over 10,000 turkeys.  The Turkey Drop benefits Cityteam Philadelphia, an organization that provides food and services to less fortunate individuals, families, shelters and food groups in the tri-state area.

In addition to Love Park, members of the MGK on-air staff will be spread around the tri-state area accepting donations at seven Giant Food Store locations in Pennsylvania and two Panera Bread locations in New Jersey from 6am to 9am.
