NYC Radio: Hot 97 DJ Funkmaster Flex Gets Into Fight at Knicks Game

Funkmaster Flex and former Hot 97 colleague TT Torrez (and her husband, music executive Shadow Stokes) have given sharply conflicting accounts of a physical altercation that took place inside the Delta Lounge at Madison Square Garden on the night of October 20, 2026.

The incident occurred prior to the New York Knicks’ season opener against the Philadelphia 76ers—a night that also featured the raising of the Knicks’ 2025-26 NBA championship banner. Video of the scuffle quickly circulated on social media.

A representative for TT Torrez (who left Hot 97 last year) told TMZ and others that what was supposed to be a night out turned into a “deeply disturbing and traumatic experience.” According to the statement, a verbal exchange between Torrez’s husband (Shadow Stokes) and Flex escalated into a physical confrontation in which Flex “shoved her violently.”

Torrez’s side has said the brief video circulating online does not show the full context and that what viewers saw was “a husband defending his wife.” They also claim Torrez has endured years of harassment, intimidation, and bullying from Flex, and that the situation is connected to a prior settlement with MediaCo/Hot 97 that included a non-disparagement agreement, which they allege Flex has continued to violate. Torrez reportedly filed an online police report that night.Complex

Police responded to a report involving a 45-year-old woman and two men. According to the report, when the woman approached one of the men, he pushed her, causing her to fall and injure her right hip. She declined medical attention at the scene, no arrests were made, and the investigation is ongoing (described by a police source as a misdemeanor assault case).

Flex posted multiple clips of the confrontation to Instagram early the next morning. He denied being punched and identified the other man as music executive Shadow Stokes. Flex claimed Stokes threw a drink on him and tried to bait him into throwing the first punch so Stokes could sue him for a “payout.” He repeatedly referred to Stokes as an “ambulance chaser” and said the couple has an “active case” against him and his company, accusing them of trying to set him up.

What Video and Reports Show

Footage shows a chaotic scene in the crowded Delta Lounge, with Flex (wearing black) moving toward another man, physical contact occurring, people scattering, and security plus an NYPD officer intervening to separate those involved and move people out of the area. Initial online claims that Flex had been punched were disputed by Flex himself.TMZ
