The Rock world has taken a huge hit in the last month with the loss of Glenn Frey, David Bowie, Lemmy and Scott Weiland of Stone Temple Pilots.
To honor the lives and impact these artists have had on all of us, Bailey & Southside from WNNX Rock 100.5 FM mornings held a Rock Wake. The wake took place this past Saturday, January 30th. Four tribute bands including Seven Bridges (The Eagles), Stone Temple Pirates (STP), Built For Speed (Motorhead) and a David Bowie tribute, organized specifically for the night, paid homage to these rock icons to celebrate the lives and legacy of each artist.
Additionally, the night acted a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society with $5.00 from each ticket contributed to cancer research. Both Bowie and Motorhead’s Lemmy Kilmister were victims of the disease.
“We could not let these musicians leave us without a proper send off,” said Program Director Greg Ausham. “Jason Bailey and Southside Steve did an amazing job putting together this tribute and the audience approved.”
Over 1,000 people attended the ROCK Wake, selling out the metro-Atlanta venue, 37 Main.
