Detroit Radio: GM Michelle Srbinovich To EXIT WDET

Michelle Srbinovich
WDET 101.9 FM General Manager Michelle Srbinovich is resigning from the Detroit-based public radio station after 10 years, reports Crain's Detroit Business.

Srbinovich's last day at Detroit's National Public Radio affiliate is July 12, according to a Tuesday news release from Wayne State University, which owns the station. She starts a new job July 15 at the venture philanthropy-backed American Journalism Project as managing director of civic news organization success.

Michael Wright, the university's chief of staff and vice president of marketing and communications, will take over on an interim basis until a permanent replacement is found. Wayne State plans to hire a search firm to help recruit a new general manager.

"I look forward to bringing my passion for public-service media and experience driving growth at WDET to build and empower an ecosystem of local civic news organizations that are sustained by, governed by and look like the public they serve," Srbinovich said in the release.
