Detroit Radio: Dery and Sharp OUT At Detroit Sports 105.1 FM

More changes are coming to Detroit Sports WMGC 105.1 FM.

The Detroit News reports a source with knowledge of the station's personnel plans says drive-time hosts Matt Dery and Drew Sharp were not expected to return next week.

They have been scrubbed from the WMGC website.

Taking their place, according to the source, will be former Piston Lindsey Hunter, who has guest-hosted on the station in recent months, and program director Dave Shore.

There are no changes to 105.1's other time slots, morning (Sean Baligian, Marc Fellhauer and Tom Mazawey) and midday (Ryan Ermanni and Rico Beard).

Rob Pascoe, who did updates and often served as an extra host, will also not be back, according to the source.

Detroit Sports 105.1, which switched to sports format from adult contemporary in August 2013, has struggled to put even a slight dent in the mega ratings that 97.1 The Ticket draws month after month.

Dery took over drive time in October, when veteran radio host Drew Lane left amid disagreements over staffing; Shore wanted an extra voice, a "sports guy," with Lane and Fellhauer, and Lane argued a new person would affect the chemistry of the show.  Sharp joined Dery at the end of October.

Hunter played 17 seasons in the NBA, mostly with Detroit, including the 2004 championship season. He also played with they Milwaukee Bucks, L.A. Lakers and Chicago Bulls, with whom he finished his career in 2010.

Shore took over as program director at 105.1, following Jason Dixon's firing in February 2015. Shore has a history of on-air work; he came from Los Angeles, where he worked on Lakers broadcasts.

Greater Media continues to say it's thinking long-term with 105.1, which has the rights to Pistons broadcasts.
