R.I.P.: George W Wilson, Career Broadcaster

June 2, 1930 - March 22, 2019
Former radio, TV personality George W Wilson died March 22 in Sanford, Florida.  He was 88-years-of-age.

Wilson began his career in the early '50s at WOLF radio in Syracuse, NY.

In addition to music and news program, he may be best remembers at First Mate George on a popular children's program on WSYR-TV3.

He also worked on WMAL and TV7 in Washington DC from 1961 to 1975.

Wilson also served as an announcer for both CBS and ABC Networks, including 'Face The Nation', according to his obit.

He concluded his DC career after a four-year stint as a news anchor at the Voice of America

From 1980 to 1995, Wilson was morning news anchor at WDBO 580 AM in Orlando.  He also served as a news anchor at Fox-TV35 in Orlando.
