Fantasia Broadcasting's WZST-FM, located at 100.9 FM, will
be Mountaineer Sports Network from IMG's primary-market affiliate station,
taking over a coveted spot once held by WVAQ-FM and WAJR-AM, owned by West
Virginia Radio Corp.
Meanwhile, West Virginia Radio Corp. is continuing to pursue
its lawsuit against West Virginia University and IMG College
over the way the university has handled its multimedia rights arrangements over
the past year.
The radio network this week asked Judge Thomas Evans to
issue a preliminary injunction to keep WVU from proceeding with its 12-year
deal with North Carolina-based IMG
College .
Evans took over the case this week for Monongalia County
Circuit Judge Phillip Gaujot after West Virginia Radio claimed he had a
conflict of interest. It cited a 25-year-old neighborhood spat between the
judge and an attorney for the radio network's parent company.
Citing the current lawsuit, West Virginia Radio attorney Bob
Gwynne declined to comment on IMG's new deal with Fantasia Broadcasting or
whether West Virginia Radio stations will carry IMG-produced WVU broadcasts in
the future.
