R.I.P.: NBC Reporter John Palmer Was 77

John Palmer, an ace reporter for NBC News who broke the story of the failed 1980 attempt to rescue American hostages in Iran, died Saturday at a Washington hospital.

He was 77.

Palmer died at George Washington University Hospital of pulmonary fibrosis, according to this wife, Nancy.
Palmer’s career spanned four decades and several countries. He worked for NBC from 1962 to 1990, and then returned to the network from 1994 until 2002.
