Peter King
If you started your radio career in Itahaca, NY radio or passed through on your way ypward, CBS Radio News Correspondent Peter King wants to hear from you.

As CBS News Radio correspondent Peter King notes, a number of the radio business’ successful talent got their start working at radio stations in Ithaca, New York

King and his brother Rick Sommers – former WLTW, New York staffer and currently broadcast liaison for the New York Local of SAG-AFTRA – are planning to write a book  chronicling the history of radio in Ithaca New York

According to King,  “We both got our professional starts as students at Ithaca College (and WICB-AM/FM), and later, WTKO, and the litany of talent that came through town is amazing – not just at WICB and WTKO  — but WVBR, WHCU and later, the FMs that began broadcasting there!”

King calls the venture his labor of love and would like to hear from others who’ve worked in the market.

He  is looking for cans of photos, memorabilia, sales material, promotional items, etc.  Anyone wishing to help can contact the project via email at  ithacaradioproject@gmail.com.  Rick Sommers can be contacted directly at rick.sommers@sagaftra.org .
