Talkradio77 WABC’s Holiday “Radiothon for the Kids” broadcast live from Cohen Children’s Medical Center in New Hyde Park, NY, last Friday and raised a total of $205,213 for the Children’s Miracle Network hospital.
77 WABC’s “Radiothon for the Kids” aired continuously from 6am-3pm, and featured live broadcasts of popular weekday programs Bernie & Sid in the Morning from 6am-10am and Curtis & Juliet from 12pm-3pm, with Russ Salzberg hosting from 10am-12pm.
Funds raised during Friday’s Radiothon go directly to Cohen Children’s Medical Center and will be used for life-saving patient care and equipment, pediatric research, Child Life services and charitable cases, benefiting the children and families of their community. Cohen Children’s Medical Center is a proud partner of Children’s Miracle Network and has been the local Children’s Miracle Network hospital covering all of New York City and Long Island since 1997.
The funds will also support a vital program for the patients, the Child Life and Creative Arts Therapy Program at Cohen Children’s Medical Center. The child life specialists’ goal is to minimize stress for children and their families coping with hospitalization and illness, through the use of technology, play, art therapy, music therapy, pet therapy, and so much more. The funds driven by the Radiothon are essential to patients, families and the hospital, which is funded solely through philanthropic dollars.
Chad Lopez, Vice President/Market Manager, 77 WABC, said: “TalkRadio 77 WABC’s first-ever holiday “Radiothon for the Kids” was an unqualified success, driving life-saving funds to this world-class pediatric hospital. During this season of giving, we thank our listeners and sponsors for their incredible generosity and support for this most worthy cause. Together, we will help make the lives of children and family in our community healthier and happier.”
Cohen Children’s Medical Center is the largest provider of pediatric health services in New York State, treating more than 450,000 children annually in Nassau and Suffolk counties, Queens, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Staten Island and Westchester County. For the 13th consecutive year in 2019, Cohen was ranked among the nation’s best children’s hospitals in US News & World Report’s 2019-20 “America’s Best Children’s Hospitals” survey, achieving top-50 rankings in nine of 10 pediatric specialties.
