PA Radio: Forever To Acquire WGTY, WGET

Forever Media has announced its invention to acquired the Gettysburg Stations owned by the locally-owned Times & News Publishing Company.  The company will retain its newspaper/

The deal is reported to be worth $4.25M

The stations are: Country WGTY 107.7 FM and ESPN Sports WGET 130 AM.

The seller will retain their Gettysburg Times newspaper. The sale was brokered by Michael J. Bergner of Bergner & Co. This is the second acquisition by Forever in recent weeks following their purchase of Dix Communications’ Cumberland, MD cluster last month.

WGTY-FM have been a country station dating back to the mid-1980s.  It has been a top rated station ever since.   John "Paesan" Pelligrini, who last motnh announced his impending retirement,  was the first to garner respectable ratings in the market in the early 1990s, first by himself, then later adding Kim Alexander as a full-time morning partner.

Many personalities have appeared on WGTY over the years - most notable are Dave "Boom Boom" Cannon, Scott Donato,  Brad Austin, Dan Douglas and Jeff Diggs.

  1. Times News Publishing sold off the newspaper in 2013 to the Sample News Group. They retained only the two radio stations.

  2. Times News Publishing Company sold their interest in the newspaper to the Sample News Group in 2013. They retained only the two radio stations, and have no affiliation with the Gettysburg Times Newspaper or any other newspaper.
