Tennessee radio stations will play Dolly Parton’s “I Will Always Love You” at the same moment Thursday morning in a statewide tribute organized by the Tennessee Association of Broadcasters.
The song is scheduled for 8 a.m. Central (9 a.m. Eastern) on participating outlets including WSM, WKOM, WKRM, 1450 WLAF and The Mighty 990. WSM said the recording will air on 650 AM as stations across the state join in.
Drivers are being asked to turn on their headlights and sing along.
TAB President Chris Baker said stations wanted a shared gesture after days of individual tributes. “Among so many other amazing traits, Dolly will certainly be remembered as a uniting force across all generations, music genres, and humanitarian causes,” he said.
The association framed the broadcast as a way for broadcasters and communities to honor Parton’s life, catalog and imprint on Tennessee.
