LBI Media has announced that it has appointed Tomas Rubio as program director for KNOR - La Raza 93.7 FM, KBOC 98.3FM, and KZZA La Ranchera 106.7FM.

Rubio will be responsible for all content and music programming at all three radio properties. Rubio, a media veteran, started his career in his native Mexico as a radio DJ and music producer.

He is best known for co-creating, producing and giving voice to the radio character known as “El Morro,” which went on to record various music albums that garnered gold and platinum albums for sales that exceeded over 2.5 million copies, as certified by the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America).

Rubio is also a Grammy-nominated music producer and music video director, who has worked with major record labels in both Latin pop and regional Mexican music genres in Mexico and the United States.

“We are pleased to have Tomas take on this role and lead our programming in the Dallas market. His experience as a seasoned radio professional and music producer will certainly add value to our radio stations and enhance our ratings in the market,” stated Winter Horton, COO, LBI Media, Inc.

Most recently, Rubio was the lead male host on EstrellaTV’s news magazine show iTestigo. Rubio has also worked as executive producer in early LBI Media shows such as “Que Buena TV,” “El Show de Don Cheto,” “Lagrimita y Costel,” and “Studio 2,” where he had a four-year run as lead host.
