R.I.P.: Warren Pierce, Longtime WJR Talk Host

Warren Pierce, the iconic Detroit radio personality who commanded the airwaves at 760 WJR for nearly four decades, died on October 31, 2025. He was 82.

Pierce joined WJR in the 1970s and soon anchored weekend mornings with “The Warren Pierce Show,” a seamless mix of news, lifestyle segments, and in-depth interviews that captivated Michigan audiences.

Across his storied career, he logged an estimated 70,000 conversations with authors, celebrities, politicians, and specialists from all corners of society.

He also anchored at Fox 2 Detroit, solidifying his status as one of the area’s most trusted voices. Peers and listeners praised his sharp professionalism, boundless curiosity, and gift for turning every exchange into compelling radio.

Off-air, Pierce was a die-hard University of Michigan football fan and devoted animal lover. He leaves behind four daughters—Karen Rosett, Meredith Block, Alexandra Taves, and Samantha Pierce—along with four grandchildren.
