All four NBC News broadcasts are #1 in the demo most valued by news advertisers for the 2016-2017 broadcast season, according to Nielsen Media Research data. NBC News’ TODAY, NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt, Meet the Press with Chuck Todd and Dateline are also the #1 most-watched broadcasts among the coveted demo of younger viewers (A18-49).
This is the first time in 14 years that all four network broadcasts are #1 in the key A25-54 demo for two straight seasons (since the 2001-2002 and 2002-2003 seasons).
TODAY is #1 in the key demo for its second straight season, hitting 91 continuous weeks in the top spot –its best streak in more than five years. In addition, Megyn Kelly TODAY, the newest third hour of the broadcast, debuted this week.
NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt is the #1 evening broadcast among A25-54 viewers, delivering a double-digit landslide win over its competition and winning its 21st straight season as a broadcast. This season, Holt moderated the most-watched presidential debate in history and conducted the interview of record with President Trump in May following FBI Director Comey’s firing.
Meet the Press with Chuck Todd is the #1 most-watched Sunday show across the board for the first time in five years (since the 2011-2012 season) and the only network Sunday show to grow all audiences year over year. The show is launching its first-ever documentary film festival this November in collaboration with the American Film Institute, expanding its 360-degree portfolio of a Sunday show, an MSNBC show and a podcast.
Dateline, the #1 most-watched Friday newsmagazine across the board, is delivering its biggest season leads over ABC News’ 20/20 in total viewers in four years (since the 2012-2013 season) and in both the A25-54 & A18-49 demos in 14 years (since the 2002-2003 season). The 26th season of Dateline premieres this Friday, September 29 at 9 p.m. ET. / 8 p.m. CT.
