Philly Radio: NBA Sixers To Remain With WPEN

The Philadelphia 76ers made official Tuesday what became reality by process of elimination last month — WPEN 97.5 The Fanatic will retain radio broadcast rights for at least another year.

The Fanatic will continue to broadcast Sixers games as well as pre-game, halftime and post-game shows. Tom McGinnis will return for his 23rd season as the radio voice of the team.

A press release said the partnership will also feature more 76ers programming, content and promotions.

The Fanatic will air its radio show, “Sixers in: 60, presented by Toyota,” hosted by Devon Givens, 10 times this season. The show will feature guest appearances from 76ers players, coaches and executives that will give fans an inside look at the team.

The partnership also contains marketing elements, which include The Fanatic’s annual Listener Knockout Tournament on Feb. 9 after the 76ers-Pelicans game at the Wells Fargo Center and additional in-arena exposure at games.

The Philly Business Journal reports Sportsradio 94WIP made a push to reclaim the rights to the team’s games five years after the Sixers departed for The Fanatic.
