After monitoring the effects of Hurricane Irma since it made landfall during Week 4 of the September 2017 PPM survey, Nielsen has determined that it will not release weekly PPM data for September Week 4 in the Miami-Ft Lauderdale and West Palm Beach markets.
The average daily in-tab for these markets was substantially below target for Week 4, and therefore the week will be excluded from the September PPM Monthly data.
In addition, after further evaluation of other markets impacted by Irma, Nielsen decided that it will release September Week 4 data for Atlanta, Jacksonville, Orlando, and Tampa-St. Petersburg. The September PPM Monthly data for those four markets will reflect all four weeks, because the average daily in-tab for the week in each of these markets was reasonably close to the targeted intab. Also, the Data Science examination of the panels concluded that there were no statistically significant effects on representation (age, sex, race/ethnicity, and geography), and therefore customers can use estimates with confidence in these four markets.
Nielsen is now in the process of reviewing data for October Week 1 in these PPM markets and will provide an update on release plans prior to the originally scheduled delivery date. Effective with October Week 2 (9/21-27), the service plans to release preliminary data for Media Monitors as originally scheduled.Hurricane Irma Stops Nielsen From Releasing Week-Four September PPM Data In Miami, West Palm Beach.
