With a little help from the NHL Chicago Blackhawks, Tribune’s
N/T WGN 720 had its best performance this year (6+ AQH Total Week) in the June
PPMs released Tuesday by Nielsen.
The Blackhawks’ Stanley Cup quest powered the WGN 3.3—4.3
in June. The station jumped from #8 to
#4 top reach the Top 5, which finds iHM’s WVAZ 102.7 FM still in the top slot despite
losing share 6.8—6.5.
The second spot
belongs to Hubbard’s HotAC WTMX 101.9
FM, which was up 4.8—5.0. CBS Radio’s
News WBBM 780 AM /105.9 FM simulcast was down 5.3—4.6 and ends up at #3.
iHM’s mainstream Top40 WKSC 103.5 KISS-FM was up a bit 3.9—4.1,
good for the #5 spot.

Worth Noting:
- CBS Radio’s Classic Hits continues its ascent 3.5—4.0 to end up #6 (6+)
- WRME-LP 87.7 MeTV FM is the little engine that could. Since February, the Soft Oldies station has slowly gained steam. Starting with barely showing in February when it launched to a 1.6 6+ Share in June. The station covers about half of Chicago and does not stream.
