“MTP With Kristen Welker” Is #1 Across the Board

Meet the Press with Kristen Welker was the #1 Sunday public affairs show across the board, winning total viewers and A25-54 on Sunday, May 4, according to Nielsen. This marks Meet the Press’ largest key demo and total viewer audience since December.

Meet the Press averaged 2.757 million total viewers and surpassed ABC’s This Week by +444,000 (+19%) and CBS’s Face the Nation by +222,000 (+9%). Meet the Press was the only program to post year-over-year and week-over-week growth among total viewers.

Meet the Press averaged 551,000 key A25-54 demo viewers, leading ABC by +148,000 (+37%) and CBS by +132,000 (+32%). Meet the Press was up versus the prior year and prior week.

The Welker-led program also ranks #1 for the current broadcast season among key A25-54 demo viewers. Meet the Press has never lost a month in the Washington, D.C. market among total viewers.

Meet the Press continues to lead in digital viewership for Sunday public affairs programs, with the full interview with President Trump already recording over 1.2 million views on YouTube and clips garnering over 16 million views on TikTok. In addition, viewers consumed hundreds of thousands of hours of content across digital platforms.

Sunday’s broadcast featured an exclusive sit down with President Donald Trump. Throughout the wide-ranging interview, President Trump broke news on more than a dozen topics, including the likelihood of a recession in the U.S., whether he needs to uphold the U.S. Constitution, whether he’s pursuing a third term as president and who he views as potential successors.

Politico wrote that Welker’s exclusive was “a revealing Trump interview,” while Jonathan Swan of The New York Times noted, “the revealing exchange was prompted by Kristen Welker asking Trump if he agreed with his Secretary of State Marco Rubio that everyone in America, citizens and non-citizens, deserved due process. ‘I don’t know,’ Trump replied. ‘I’m not, I’m not a lawyer. I don’t know.’ Welker reminded the president that the Fifth Amendment says as much.”
