Report: 18-49ers Sports Fans Are Interested In Venu

Venu Sports, the new sports streaming bundle from Disney, Fox, and Warner Bros. Discovery, is generating significant interest among sports viewers. Here are the key points:

Subscription Interest: According to a recent report by Horowitz Research, 42% of respondents in their survey expressed that they would likely subscribe to Venu Sports when it becomes available.

Specifically, 58% of sports viewers aged 18-34 and 57% of those aged 35-49 indicated a likelihood to subscribe to Venu. Younger viewers (18-34 and 35-49) are more than twice as likely to subscribe compared to their older counterparts (23%).

Latino (53%) and Black (50%) sports viewers also over-index for likely subscriptions, compared to Asian (40%) and White, non-Hispanic (39%) counterparts.

Service Details: Venu Sports will offer live coverage from ESPN and other linear sports networks as part of this joint venture. The subscription price has not been officially disclosed, but estimates suggest it will fall in the range of $30-$40 per month. The service is expected to have 5 million followers within its first five years.

Impact on Other Subscriptions: Among sports viewers likely to subscribe to Venu, nearly 4 in 10 (38%) said they would make changes to their existing subscriptions. The most mentioned change is cancelling their virtual MVPD service (such as traditional cable/satellite TV). Some viewers may also consider cancelling other subscription streaming services.

Game Changer: The ability to watch live sports has historically incentivized sports fans to maintain their subscriptions to MVPD and vMVPD services. Venu Sports is poised to be a game changer in the media ecosystem, potentially making retention even more challenging for all players.
