6/4 WAKE-UP CALL: Biden Finally Expected To Take Border Action


President Biden is expected to sign an executive order Tuesday that would ban migrants who cross the southern border illegally from claiming asylum. It’s a last-resort effort meant to please voters unhappy with his handling of immigration ahead of the presidential election. Biden decided to take the step despite advisers saying that it would likely be struck down in court—and, even if it survived legal scrutiny, would be tough to fully implement without massive congressional funding, according to people familiar with the discussions. Illegal immigration is a top issue for voters and the one they give Biden the lowest marks on, polls show. Republicans, led by presumptive GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump, have blasted Biden’s handling of the border.

➤TEMPORARY CEASE-FIRE IN THE WORKS: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that he is open to a temporary cease-fire to release hostages but wants a free hand to resume fighting Hamas. The militant group has said that the two sides must agree to end the fighting now and is pushing for written guarantees that Israel won’t restart after an initial pause. Israel says that 120 people taken during Hamas’s Oct. 7 attacks that sparked the war remain captive in Gaza, including dozens of dead hostages. In a call with the emir of Qatar, a Persian Gulf state that is a key mediator in the talks, President Biden said that Hamas is now the only obstacle to a cease-fire and relief for the people of Gaza, according to the White House. Earlier, Hamas officials told mediators that they haven’t seen an Israeli proposal that matches the potential deal that Biden described.

➤JURY SET FOR HUNTER TRIAL:  Jury selection is complete in the trial of Hunter Biden, who allegedly lied on a federal form about his drug use when he bought a gun in 2018. 

The president’s son pleaded not guilty last year. The proceeding in Delaware federal court is likely to delve into details of his addiction and the Biden family’s dynamics as the president campaigns for re-election. The trial is expected to end shortly before Biden’s first debate with Donald Trump, the presumptive Republican nominee. If convicted, the junior Biden faces up to 25 years behind bars, although any prison term is likely to amount to a fraction of that maximum sentence.

➤TRUMP AMERICAN WON'T 'STAND' FOR HOUSE ARREST: Former President Donald Trump said Americans will reach their “breaking point” if he is sentenced to house arrest after his conviction of 34 felony offenses. “I’m not sure the public would stand for it,” Trump said in an interview with Fox News that aired Sunday. “I think it’d be tough for the public to take. At a certain point, there’s a breaking point.” He didn’t say what would happen after the breaking point, but he warned that the U.S. was on a dangerous trajectory after what he described as a politically motivated conviction. 

➤TRUMP CALLS ON SUPREME COURT: Trump: Supreme Court must decide on his conviction . . . “The ‘Sentencing’ for not having done anything wrong will be, conveniently for the Fascists, 4 days before the Republican National Convention,” Trump wrote on Truth Social on Sunday evening. “A Radical Left Soros backed D.A., who ran on a platform of ‘I will get Trump,’ reporting to an ‘Acting’ Local Judge, appointed by the Democrats, who is HIGHLY CONFLICTED, will make a decision which will determine the future of our Nation? The United States Supreme Court MUST DECIDE!”

➤TRUMP CAMPAIGN ENERGIZED:  Trump campaign said to be firing on all cylinders. . . “Buttoned-up” and “conventional” are hardly ideas that come to mind when thinking about Donald Trump’s presidential campaigns, but observers across the political spectrum have struggled not to notice a different feel to Trump 2024. In and around the campaign, insiders are dissecting the 2024 operation. The transformation, they told the Daily Caller, boils down to personnel and messaging. “He has put together in 2024, a group of competent loyalists, who are also, I think he’s thrown around the term ruthless killers, something along those lines around, which should make all of us very happy,” Ned Ryun, CEO of American Majority Action stated.

➤FAUCI ON THE DEFENSIVE: Former top U.S. infectious disease expert Dr. Anthony Fauci strongly denied suppressing the theory that COVID-19 originated from a lab leak in China, telling lawmakers he never influenced research on the origins of the virus. In his first time addressing the allegations publicly since a 14-hour hearing held behind closed doors in January, Fauci also reiterated that he believes the most likely origin of the pandemic was animal-to-human transmission. "I've also been very, very clear, and said multiple times, that I don’t think the concept of there being a lab (leak) is inherently a conspiracy theory," he said.


"What is conspiracy is the kind of distortions of that particular subject, like it was a lab leak, and I was parachuted into the CIA like Jason Bourne and told the CIA that they should really not be talking about a lab leak," he told a U.S. House of Representatives panel. Fauci, who retired in December 2022 after 54 years at the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH) including 38 serving as director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), was testifying before the House Oversight and Accountability Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic.

➤PHILLY D-A PROVIDING LEGAL HELP TO MIGRANTS: Soros-backed DA's office provided free legal help to illegal aliens . . . Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner’s office provided free consultations and legal assistance to illegal aliens charged with violent felonies in 2023, documents reveal. The taxpayer-funded consultations were provided to migrants charged with various heinous crimes—including rape, robbery, strangulation, aggravated assault, and homicide by vehicle—in an ostensible effort to help them avoid convictions that would lead to their deportation, documents obtained by the Immigration Reform Law Institute reveal.


⚾PHILLIES 3 BREWERS 1: David Dahl hit a solo home run and a single, Zack Wheeler tossed seven strong innings and the host Philadelphia Phillies defeated the Milwaukee Brewers 3-1 on Monday. Johan Rojas added two singles and an RBI for the Phillies, and Edmundo Sosa had an RBI single. Wheeler (7-3) allowed five hits and one run to go along with six strikeouts and three walks. He threw 114 pitches, 67 for strikes. Jeff Hoffman pitched a scoreless eighth, and Jose Alvarado logged a 1-2-3 ninth for his 10th save of the season.

Facing his former team, Rhys Hoskins hit, who received multiple ovations throughout the game, hit a solo shot to left-center field with two outs in the seventh inning to pull Milwaukee within 3-1.

🠊Major League Baseball’s biggest nightmare since sports gambling's widespread legalization has come to fruition: An active player faces a suspension and potential lifetime ban for betting on baseball. Tucupita Marcano, a utility player on the San Diego Padres’ injured list, is under investigation by MLB for gambling on baseball. Marcano, a 24-year-old native of Venezuela, reportedly placed the bets in 2023, when he was a member of the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Said the Pirates in a statement: "We are aware of the matter that’s under investigation and are fully cooperating. We will refrain from further comment at this time." Marcano suffered a torn ACL in his right knee in July 2023 and has been on the injured list since. The Padres, who originally signed him out of Venezuela in 2016, claimed him off waivers from Pittsburgh in November.

🏀PAT McAFEE APOLOGIZES TO CAITLIN CLARK: ESPN talk show host Pat McAfee apologized for referring to Indiana Fever rookie Caitlin Clark as a "white (expletive)" during a WNBA riff that opened his show Monday. "I shouldn’t have used 'white (expletive)' as a descriptor of Caitlin Clark. No matter the context.. even if we’re talking about race being a reason for some of the stuff happening.. I have way too much respect for her and women to put that into the universe," McAfee wrote on social media more than an hour after his program ended. He continued: "My intentions when saying it were complimentary just like the entire segment but, a lot of folks are saying that it certainly wasn’t at all. That’s 100% on me and for that I apologize… I have sent an apology to Caitlin as well. Everything else I said… still alllllll facts."

🌞IT'S GETTING HOT OUT THERE!:  Summer temperatures are expected to break records this year – and so are electric bills. Cranking up the air conditioner to battle the heat outside is the main factor driving up electric bills, and low-income families who can least afford the higher bills will be hit the hardest. Exposure to extreme heat can even be deadly. What's the forecast? U.S. electricity bills are forecast to reach new heights, jumping 7.9% to total $719 from June through September. That average is up from $661 over the same four-month stretch last year, experts say.
