His final day at WDBO is Sept. 5. He starts at WPEC, the CBS affiliate, on Sept. 8.
Beaton began as an intern at WDBO in 2011 and later joined the news team full time. He covered the George Zimmerman trial, and his reporting was featured on ABC News Radio and CNN Headline News.
He also reported on the Casey Anthony bankruptcy proceedings.
"Orlando's been very good to me," Beaton said. "I love the people and the diversity the town offers."
