Jim Engster
The Jim Engster Show is leaving public radio station WRKF 89.3 FM and moving up the dial to Guaranty Broadcasting's Talk WBRP 107.3 FM, which will expand the one-hour talk show to two hours and air it live statewide during the weekday afternoon drive time from 4 to 6 p.m.

Engster made the announcement on the air Monday morning. His final broadcast on WRKF will be on Halloween, Friday, Oct. 31, accoridng to the Baton Rouge Business Report.

For Engster the move is an opportunity to reach a broader audience. His network, the Louisiana Radio Network, produces the show and will offer it to affiliates around the state.

"This is a return to the show's roots in a statewide audience," Engster says. "People all across Louisiana will be able to talk to newsmakers directly."

For Guaranty, which launched its talk radio station in 2011, the Engster show brings the potential for a devoted following of listeners. "It's really a wonderful combination," says Gordy Rush, Guaranty vice president and Baton Rouge market manager. "Jim is one of the most trusted voices in Louisiana journalism, who has covered sports, politics, natural disasters and countless events for more than 30 years."

Bill Profita, who currently hosts drive time talk on 107.3, tells Daily Report he will be moving to mornings from 5:30 to 10 a.m. There has been no word yet from WRKF on a replacement for the Engster program.
