LA Radio: Bobby 'Da Cajun' Richard OUT At KCIL

Bobby Richard
Gray, LA radio personality Bobby “Da Cajun” Richard hopes to soon host his weekend swamp pop shows on a new station.

Richard’s well-known “Swamp Pop Saturday” and “Cajun-French Sunday” shows on Houma-based KCIL 96.7 FM were canceled last week after more than 13 years on the air.

Richard, 62, hosted a similar radio show at a St. Mary Parish station for 18 years before becoming a deejay at KCIL in 2000.

“It became sort of rooted,” he said. “The show had a lot of fans.”

But all that changed on Friday when Richard, who lives in Belle River, learned his weekend shows had been permanently canceled.

“All the decisions were made by the (Sunburst Media) corporate office in Dallas,” he said. “And they wanted it to be a full-country station.”

KCIL 96.7 FM (50Kw) 60dBu Coverage
Representatives from Sunburst Media, which runs KCIL 96.7, would not comment except to say, “We wish Bobby the best.”
