Mike Campbell, a beloved news reporter and anchor at WWJ Newsradio 950 in Detroit, passed away on Sunday, June 8, 2025, at the age of 65, the station announced in a heartfelt report on Monday morning.

Campbell, who had just celebrated his birthday in late May, leaves behind a legacy of dedicated journalism and a profound impact on the Metro Detroit community.

Campbell earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Northern Michigan University. He furthered his education at Specs Howard School of Media Arts at Lawrence Technological University (LTU) in Southfield, Michigan, where he obtained a Radio-Television certificate in Broadcast News. This academic foundation paved the way for a distinguished career in broadcast journalism.

WWJ Newsradio 950 expressed deep sorrow in their announcement, stating, "We are heartbroken to share that WWJ Reporter and Anchor Mike Campbell died on Sunday. He was 65 years old, having just celebrated his birthday at the end of May."
