During the week of April 14-20, FOX News Channel was the number one network in cable across primetime and total day, defeating ESPN and TNT as the NBA and NHL playoffs began.
In total day (6 AM-6 AM/ET), FNC posted 1.6 million viewers and 204,000 in the 25-54 demo surpassing ESPN (612,000 viewers) and TNT (399,000 viewers).
In primetime (8 PM-11 PM/ET), FNC averaged 2.5 million viewers and 281,000 in the 25-54 demo defeating TNT (1.3 million viewers) and ESPN (1.1 million viewers). FOX News has now garnered the top 957 cable news telecasts since the election.
In weekday primetime, FNC (3 million viewers) outpaced ABC (2.7 million viewers). The Five has now averaged over 4 million viewers for 22 straight weeks. CNN shrunk to its lowest week of the year in the 25-54 demo during primetime with just 84,000 viewers. CNN was also down the most week-over-week seeing 20% decrease with viewers during primetime and a 12% decrease with total day viewers.
For the week, The Five averaged 4.1 million viewers and 464,000 in the 25-54 demo, leading cable news in all categories. At 6 PM/ET, Special Report with Bret Baier drew 3.1 million viewers and 331,000 in the 25-54 demo. The Ingraham Angle saw 2.9 million viewers and 342,000 in the 25-54 demo at 7 PM/ET. At 8 PM/ET, Jesse Watters Primetime delivered 3.6 million viewers and 413,000 in the 25-54 demo. At 9 PM/ET, Hannity posted 2.8 million viewers and 343,000 with A25-54. At 11 PM/ET, FOX News @ Night secured 1.7 million viewers and 242,000 in the 25-54 demo.
At 10 PM/ET, FNC’s late-night offering Gutfeld! secured 3.1 million viewers and 381,000 with A25-54. Gutfeld! once again topped the broadcast competition including CBS’ The Late Show with Stephen Colbert (2,007,000 viewers; 321,000 A25-54) and ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! (1,437,000 viewers; 229,000 A25-54).
FNC continued to see its daytime programs outpace the broadcast competition. The Will Cain Show (weekdays, 4 PM/ET; 2,364,000 viewers), Harris Faulkner’s The Faulkner Focus (weekdays, 11 AM/ET; 2,004,000 viewers), Outnumbered (weekdays, 12 PM/ET; 1,952,000 viewers), America’s Newsroom (weekdays, 9-11 AM/ET; 1,951,000 viewers), The Story with Martha MacCallum (weekdays, 3 PM/ET; 1,932,000 viewers) and America Reports (weekdays, 1-3 PM/ET; 1,869,000 viewers) all led NBC’s Today Third Hour (1,697,000 viewers), ABC’s The View (1,614,000 viewers), NBC’s Today with Jenna & Friends (1,157,00 viewers) and NBC News Daily (1,099,000 viewers) with viewers.
On Saturday: FOX & Friends Weekend (weekends, 6-10 AM/ET) was the most-watched show of the day with 1.4 million viewers and 223,000 in the 25-54 demo. Life, Liberty & Levin (weekends, 8 PM/ET) was the top show in primetime with 1,349,000 viewers. The Big Weekend Show (weekends, 6-8 PM/ET) commanded 1.2 million viewers and 143,000 in the 25-54 demo. At 9 PM/ET, My View with Lara Trump posted 1.2 million viewers and FOX News Saturday Night with Jimmy Failla commanded 1.1 million viewers at 10 PM/ET.
On Sunday: Maria Bartiromo’s Sunday Morning Futures (Sunday, 10 AM/ET) was the top show of the weekend with 1.6 million viewers. Sunday Night in America with Trey Gowdy (Sunday, 9 PM/ET) was the number one show in primetime with 1.5 million. From 6-8 PM/ET, The Big Weekend Show commanded 1.2 million viewers and 170,000 in the 25-54 demo, while One Nation with Brian Kilmeade posted 1.2 million viewers at 10 PM/ET. FOX & Friends Weekend was number one in the 25-54 demo with 193,000 viewers.

- “World News Tonight” outperformed “NBC Nightly News” (5.908 million, 816,000 and 531,000, respectively) by264 million Total Viewers, by 143,000 Adults 25-54 and by 150,000 Adults 18-49.
- “World News Tonight” (7.172 million, 959,000 and 681,000, respectively) beat “CBS Evening News” (3.738 million, 544,000 and 358,000, respectively) by 3.434 million Total Viewers, by 415,000 Adults 25-54 and by 323,000 Adults 18-49.
- For the 6th week in a row, “World News Tonight” increased its year-to-year lead over “CBS Evening News” in Total Viewers (+9% – 3.434 million vs. 3.154 million), Adults 25-54 (+7% – 415,000 vs. 387,000) and Adults 18-49 (+28% – 323,000 vs. 252,000).
