'Cowboy Carter' Tour Opens This Week, Some Fans Are Ticked

Ticket prices for Beyoncé's 2025 Cowboy Carter tour have seen significant drops in several markets, despite initial high demand following the tour's announcement in February 2025.

When tickets first went on sale in February 2025, demand was intense, briefly crashing Ticketmaster’s website. Prices during presales and general sales ranged from $70 to $400 for standard tickets, with premium VIP packages like the “Buckin’ Honey Pit” reaching up to $2,958. Some fans reported paying inflated prices, such as $500–$1,700 for seats in the same section at Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium, sparking frustration over perceived dynamic pricing, which Ticketmaster denied using.

Price Drops and Unsold Tickets:
As the tour’s April 28, 2025, opening night in Los Angeles approaches, thousands of tickets remain unsold across multiple venues. For example:
  • Los Angeles (SoFi Stadium): Over 3,200 standard tickets are unsold for the opening night, with resale tickets on Ticketmaster dipping as low as $35–$37. Later shows in the five-night LA run have over 3,800 unsold seats each.
  • New Jersey (MetLife Stadium): The final night has over 5,500 unsold tickets, despite being an added date due to initial demand.
  • Atlanta (Mercedes-Benz Stadium): The July 14 show has over 5,800 unsold tickets, including 50% of floor seats, typically the most expensive.
  • Las Vegas and UK Shows: Added shows in Las Vegas are struggling, with tickets as low as $29, and UK sales, particularly for six London shows at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, have been sluggish, with Ticketmaster noting lower-than-expected demand.
Fan Frustration and Resale Market: Fans who paid high prices during presales are upset as better seats are now available at significantly lower costs.

Possible Reasons for Slow Sales:
  • High Initial Prices: Fans criticized prices as “greedy,” with some tickets starting at $220 for standing areas in the UK and $1,795 for premium “Club Ho-Down” sections.
  • Fan Fatigue: An industry insider suggested that fans may have spent heavily on Beyoncé’s 2023 Renaissance tour or other major tours (e.g., Taylor Swift), coupled with economic constraints.
  • Album Reception: Some reports claim the Cowboy Carter album, despite its Grammy win for Album of the Year, didn’t resonate as strongly with fans, potentially dampening enthusiasm.
  • Oversupply of Shows: The addition of nine extra dates, including five in LA and two in Las Vegas, may have oversaturated the market.
