WI Radio: Magnum Flips WKCH To Classic Country

Magnum Media has expanded their reach Switching WKCH to Classic Country and using WSJY-FM-HD4 to extend coverage to Janesville via 94.7 W234DR Beloit to capture a broader audience. Launching “Bucky Country” on 95.9 WBKY and 99.5 W258CM last April also shows their commitment to providing localized content.

Mornings on WKCH “Klassic Country Hits” 94.7 & 106.5 will be hosted by Magnum Media’s Group Director of Engineering, Chris Tarr.  Tarr had been a deejay prior to taking on engineering in 2000.  As an engineer, he’s become known to many as “Doc Tarr,” the handle he’ll use on-the-air on WKCH.  Tarr says this won’t be his first rodeo with Classic Country, “Back in 1989, Duke Wright asked me to do weekends on what was then WGEE in Green Bay, which grew to the overnight shift and eventually nights.  I developed a real fondness for the format.  I often catch myself streaming another Classic Country station in our Magnum group, so when Dave asked me if I’d dust off my headphones, I said, sign me up!”

Magnum Media is currently comprised of 22 Wisconsin stations on 35 signals stretching from the shores of Lake Michigan to the shores of the Mississippi River.
