NYC Radio: NBA Knicks Add New Radio Voice

Tyler Murray, a 34-year-old “lifelong Knicks fan,” is replacing Ed Cohen as the regular play-by-play announcer next season on ESPN 880 AM, MSG Networks announced Thursday afternoon.

The Connecticut native is currently filling in for radio play-by-play on MLB Red Sox games behind Will Flemming.

Murray has also been the lead voice for the Triple-A Worcester Red Sox and his broadcasting background includes college basketball and hockey.

Monica McNutt, also a consistent TV presence, is returning for her second season as the lead analyst for Knicks broadcasts on ESPN New York, which recently moved frequencies from 98.7 FM to 880 AM.

Cohen was the play-by-play voice from 2017 until last season, when a medical condition involving his voice took him off the air.

Pat O’Keefe filled in expertly as the Knicks enjoyed their best season in over a decade, winning 50 games for the East’s second seed and advancing to Game 7 of the second round.

Counting O’Keefe, Murray will be the Knicks’ fifth regular play-by-play radio announcer since 2011, joining Spero Dedes, Mike Crispino and Cohen.
