NYC Radio: WFAN Extends Contract For Boomer & Gio

Boomer Esiason and Gregg Giannotti have signed contract extensions with WFAN 101.9 FM / 660 AM, The NY Post is reporting.

“Boomer & Gio” will be doing their morning show until at least the end of 2023. The ramifications of the deal solidifies the baton for WFAN mornings that began after Don Imus was fired in 2007. 

Since Imus had been the anchor of the station, there was some thought through the years of, “How would FAN ever replace him?” Instead, anchored by Esiason, who first partnered with Craig Carton and now Giannotti, they have been on top for nearly 15 years and counting. 

While Esiason, 60, could continue on for a while, it sets up the idea that Gio will one day be the first name on the show with a to-be-determined partner.

By the way, in the first month of the Nielsen Audio ratings for the spring book, “Carton & Roberts” continued to beat ESPN New York’s “The Michael Kay Show.” With the Kay Show now on head-to-head with Carton from 2-6:30 p.m., FAN was third (6.4 share among men 25-54) to Kay’s fifth (4.2). 

Meanwhile, Boomer & Gio (7.6) maintained their No. 1 overall spot in the market while ESPN was tied for 9th (3.5). From 10-2, Moose & Maggie (6.1) was third to ESPN New York’s 9th (3.3).
