R.I.P.: Win Bettinson, Quincy MA Broadcaster Was 100

Win Bettinson
Longtime broadcaster and radio personality Winslow “Win” Bettinson has died at age 100. His son Dana Bettinson of Carver said today his father’s long life and career came to an end Wednesday night and that he was “another victim of the COVID-19 virus.”

Bettinson, a very popular radio personality at WJDA 1300 AM in Quincy from 1952 to 1990, he had quietly celebrated his 100th birthday on March 17 this year at the nursing center. His family’s plans for a party had to be postponed due to the coronavirus lockdown.

Bettinson served as program director at WJDA and as host of the Party Line morning program when people would call in with views on issues of the day.

Corinne Mikami of Braintree, a family friend, said he is remembered for announcing “no school” days in Quincy and broadcasting listeners’ birthdays on the air.
