Entercom has announced the expansion of Greenville station 106.3 WORD (WYRD-FM) to translator W270AM 101.5 FM (250 watts), effective immediately.

The addition of this frequency extends the reach of the Upstate’s No. 1 news talk radio station to Anderson County.

“We’re happy to meet the demand from listeners and advertisers to expand 106.3 WORD’s over-the-air signal to Anderson County using 101.5 FM,” said Steve Sinicropi, Senior Vice President and Market Manager, Entercom Greenville-Spartanburg. “Anderson is a fast-growing market that we are looking forward to serving with 106.3 WORD’s programming on all of our platforms.”

Entercom launched 106.3 WORD in 2008 as 106.3 FM in Greenville and Spartanburg County, which had previously only broadcast on 1330 AM. The addition of the new translator will now allow the station to bring its signal to Anderson for the first time in the frequency’s 30-year history.
