Westwood One News Presents Fall Of Berlin Wall Special

Chas Henry
CUMULUS MEDIA’s Westwood One is announcing 30 Years After the Fall: The Legacy of the Berlin Wall, a news special exploring the 30th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall.
Correspondent Chas Henry will host the program, reporting from the site where the Berlin Wall once stood. Chas will also provide coverage for Westwood One newscasts and live custom reports for radio affiliates on the anniversary.

Three decades after its fall, Chas will be talking to scholars about why the wall was constructed and with residents who watched it come down. Built in 1961, the 27-mile wall separated East and West Berlin, dividing the city’s residents between the Soviet Union’s Communism and Western Europe. At least 140 people died at and around the barrier, which was designed to keep East Germans from escaping an authoritarian Communist regime. The wall came down in November 1989 following civil unrest in East Berlin and political pressure from the West, reuniting the city in a joyous celebration.

The half-hour news special will air Thanksgiving weekend. Stations interested in affiliating 30 Years After the Fall: The Legacy of the Berlin Wall can contact Jim Jones at jimjones@westwoodone.com or 202.840.7933 for more information.

Broadcast journalist Chas Henry reports on security matters and issues impacting military veterans. A combat-decorated veteran of the 1991 Gulf War, Chas served in the U. S. He has reported from Iraq, Afghanistan and Qatar; and has been recognized with a regional Edward R.
