Chicago Radio WUSN Adds Caruba, Keeps Walker

CBS Radio's Country WUSN 99.5 FM US99 has announced the addition of Kimmie Caruba to the evening shift, effective August 29.  The station has also keeping  longtime midday host Drew Walker.

The two moves completes US99's revamping of it on-air linepup.

Said Walker Monday: "This has been my radio home for the last 12 years and I've never been more excited about our future than today. I'm grateful to Todd Cavanah, Tim Pohlman, and Jeff Kapugi for this promotion to a role of leadership, while continuing to do what I've always dreamed of since I was 9 years old growing up in West Lafayette, IN -- being that guy on the radio in Chicago that gets you through your day, your 'life escape,' no matter what you're doing."

Caruba joins WUSN from CBS Radio Phoenix where she pulled double duty as night talent on Country KMLE and midday talent Top 40 KALV. She’s an avid Chicago Bears fan, and while she may be leaving the heat of Arizona, Caruba is excited to dive in and meet the listeners of US99, Chicago’s Hottest Country.

“It still doesn’t seem real that I’m coming home to be a part of the legendary WUSN brand!” remarked Caruba; “I’m ready to give Chicagoland the nights they’ve been looking for… the best in new country content, the hottest country music and best artist experiences! Thank you so much to Tim Pohlman, Todd Cavanah, Jeff Kapugi & Tim Richards for this incredible opportunity.”

Current SVP/MM Tim Pohlman worked with Caruba while managing CBS Radio Phoenix. She began her radio career as an intern for WKSC 103.5 KissFM in 2011.

“Kimmie is a born and raised Chicagoan that grew up listening to US99,” said Jeff Kapugi, CBS RADIO Vice President, Country Programming and Program Director, WUSN. “She’s a very dynamic personality that brings a hot, fresh and interactive approach to nighttime radio in Chicago.” With US99 veteran Drew Walker as our midday anchor, I know the station will sound great and our listeners will continue to engage with us on-air, on-line and on their devices.”

As of September 6th, WUSN-FM's weekday line-up:
  • 5:30am-10:00am -- Stylz & Roman
  • 10:00am-3:00pm -- Drew Walker
  • 3:00pm-7:00pm -- Kasper
  • 7:00pm-Midnight -- Kimmie Caruba
