It brought an end to an era at The Dove 105.3 FM, which has changed its format from Christian to hippie (Classic Rock). The station also has a new call sign WHPP 105.3 FM (licensed to Humbolt, TN, northeast of Memphis).
"We closed it out with the 'Hallelujah Chorus' with The Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir," Mapes said.
"I'm still on the payroll, but I'm in a holding pattern, and I'm reminded of my favorite Bible verse, Proverbs 3:5-6, 'Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways, acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.'"
Lacy Ennis, who owns the station with his brother Charles, said The Hippie 105.3 signed on at midnight January 1.

"If we broaden our format, it will help what we lose with The Dove," Ennis said. "We'll have a whole new listenership, and there has been a lot more positive comments than negative comments about the change."
Ennis said he hopes Mapes will continue his show on another station owned by the Ennis brothers — WWGM 93.1 FM.
