Opinion: Bravo Cumulus You Did It Right!

NashFM air-chair empty for now
Thousands of metro New York radio listeners were gifted Monday when Cumulus unveiled it’s country format on NashFM 94-7.

The station's Facebook page logged almost 3,000 likes overnight (see some listener comments below).

The station is jockless for now, but surely that will change.

When Cumulus acquired the 94.7 frequency last October, MC’s Bob Gale wrote that country would be the most logical format. It’s been almost 17 years since the original WYNY 1035 FM signed-off and that was the last big signal country format that New York had.

Four suburban stations all at 107.1 used the YNY calls surrounding NY in a "quad cast" in the late 90's and early 2000's, and that was the closest New York had to a full time country station.

Today, Bob writes Cumulus deserves credit for their format introduction.  And at the same time faults Cox Media for it’s recent format flip to Power 106.1 FM in Jacksonville, FL.
