Sherry Taylor is leaving WQMZ Z95.1 after nearly 18 years as the station’s morning host and retiring from radio after a 34-year career. Taylor, a fixture in Charlottesville since joining the station in 2008 (with a brief hiatus in 2020), said she decided it was time to “step back” and is choosing to leave on her own terms.
She has not finalized the format of her final show.
Reflecting on her career, Taylor called the decision “bittersweet,” citing pride in building the program and engaging with the community. “Being creative and getting to do that… I feel very privileged,” she said.
Taylor pointed to accumulated changes in the radio and media landscape as part of her decision, noting there are now many more listening options. She expressed gratitude to longtime listeners for continuing to choose radio.
