Topeka Radio: Connoisseur Media Sheds Another Cluster

Connoisseur Media has agreed to sell its Topeka, Kansas cluster — KSAJ-FM (98.5 Jack FM), KTPK (Country 106.9), WIBW-AM (WIBW News) and WIBW-FM (The Big 94.5 Country) — to KNZA Inc., which operates locally as MSC Radio Group, pending FCC approval and expected to close in early summer.

The transaction is part of Connoisseur’s strategy to refocus its portfolio after last September’s acquisition of Alpha Media, allowing the company to concentrate resources in key growth markets while keeping the Topeka stations under local ownership, Connoisseur said.

MSC Radio Group, currently the only locally based operator in Topeka, said the purchase will expand its regional footprint and reinforce commitments to local broadcasting, including news, sports and agriculture programming. Connoisseur CEO and founder Jeff Warshaw said the stations have strong listener ties and are well positioned for continued success under MSC ownership.
