Michael Shawn is returning to Urban One Philadelphia’s 100.3 RnB (WRNB) to host a weekend show starting April 4, the station announced, marking his comeback to the market where he launched his broadcasting career.
Shawn spent eight years at WRNB hosting Michael Shawn & the Takeover Legends Night Show from 2000 to 2008. He later co‑hosted the syndicated DeDe in the Morning on K104.5 (KKDA) in Dallas from 2012 until leaving that show in 2020. The new weekend program will place Shawn back on Philadelphia airwaves and reintroduce his comedy and radio persona to local listeners.
“We’re excited to welcome him back to Urban One Philadelphia and his new home on WRNB,” Urban One Philadelphia Vice President & General Manager Sean Sams said, calling Shawn’s return “nostalgic” and praising his personality, creativity and audience connection. Shawn said he feels grateful for the opportunity to return to “the city that created my radio career,” calling it “an amazing blessing.”
The move strengthens WRNB’s weekend lineup and taps Shawn’s established local following; further programming details, airtimes and whether the show will carry syndicated elements were not disclosed. The weekend show debuts April 4.
