Fox Sports: Mark Silverman Exits As COO

Mark Silverman, President and COO of FOX Sports, announced Tuesday, that he is stepping away from his day-to-day role in the coming months to transition into a consulting position with the company.

Silverman, who joined FOX Sports in 2018 after serving as president of Big Ten Network (BTN) since its 2007 launch, reflected on his tenure in a statement:

“I am immensely proud of all that we have been able to accomplish at FOX Sports and the 11 prior years at BTN. It has been an incredibly rewarding experience working with all the talented people at FOX and creating memories that will last a lifetime. While bittersweet, I look forward to embarking on my next chapter.”

FOX Sports CEO Eric Shanks praised Silverman’s contributions, saying he has been “an amazing partner through this incredible period of growth,” highlighting impacts on company culture, partner relationships, and record ratings in NFL, college football, MLB, and FIFA events.

Reports indicate that Brad Zager, current President of Production & Operations and Executive Producer, is expected to succeed Silverman, though the promotion has not yet been officially announced.

During his time at FOX Sports, Silverman oversaw programming, production, marketing, and digital operations for FOX, FS1, and FS2. He played a key role in revamping college football coverage, including the successful launch of “Big Noon Saturday” and “Big Noon Kickoff,” as well as major talent acquisitions like Tom Brady for NFL analysis.

Prior to FOX, Silverman spent over a decade building BTN into a profitable network with wide distribution, following executive roles at The Walt Disney Company’s ABC networks. His departure marks the end of a significant era of expansion and innovation at FOX Sports.
