| Michael Reagan (1945-2026) |
Michael Reagan, the eldest son of former President Ronald Reagan, died on January 4, 2026, at age 80 in Los Angeles, surrounded by his family.
The Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and Institute announced his passing on January 6 in a statement on X, describing him as “a steadfast guardian of his father’s legacy” who “lived a life shaped by conviction, purpose, and an abiding devotion to President Reagan’s ideals.”
Some reports indicate he succumbed after a battle with cancer, though the family statement did not specify a cause.
Born March 18, 1945, and adopted shortly after birth by Ronald Reagan and his first wife, actress Jane Wyman, Michael Reagan became a prominent conservative commentator, nationally syndicated radio host of “The Michael Reagan Show,” and contributor to Newsmax. He authored books including “Lessons My Father Taught Me” and actively promoted his father’s principles of freedom, personal responsibility, and limited government through speaking engagements and involvement with the Reagan Library.
He is survived by his wife, Colleen; children Cameron and Ashley; and half-siblings Patti Davis and Ron Reagan Jr. The foundation noted his warm presence at events and profound loss to those who knew him.
