Miami Radio: iHM Signs Paul Castronovo To Long-Term Contract

iHeartMedia's classic rock station Big 105.9 (WBGG-FM) in Miami/Fort Lauderdale has signed veteran morning host Paul Castronovo to a new five-year contract extension, ensuring his popular show remains on the airwaves through at least 2031.

Castronovo, a South Florida radio staple for over 40 years, reacted with humor and gratitude: “iHeart just signed me on for another five years. Either they really love me — or they lost a bet,” he joked.

“Honestly, I’ve got the best job in South Florida. Every morning, I get to laugh with my friends — and they actually pay me for it! This new deal will mark 47 years of doing radio in South Florida and that’s just wild.”

The extension highlights Castronovo's enduring appeal in the market. He began his career at the University of Florida's WRUF-FM before moving through stations like WSHE (where he paired with "Young Ron" Brewer starting in 1990), WZTA (Zeta 94.9), and finally joining Big 105.9 in 2004. After Brewer's retirement in 2016, the program rebranded as “The Paul Castronovo Show,” airing weekdays from 6-10 a.m. and known for its mix of humor, celebrity interviews, and local flavor.sun-sentinel.com

Shari Gonzalez, Market President for iHeartMedia Miami/Fort Lauderdale, praised the decision: “Paul brings a distinctive mix of personality and an authentic community connection that truly resonates with his loyal listeners and advertisers. We’re thrilled to have Paul continue his incredible radio run in Miami and keep his iconic morning show on Big 105.9 for years to come.”

Beyond broadcasting, Castronovo is deeply involved in philanthropy. He serves on the Board of Directors for the Guy Harvey Foundation (focused on ocean conservation and research) and has held leadership roles with the Miami Dolphins Foundation, including co-chairing the annual Fins Weekend fishing and golf charity event. Additionally, through on-air initiatives like his annual 50/50 Draw raffles, he has helped raise significant funds for Farm Share, Florida's largest food bank, supporting efforts to combat hunger across the state.media.info.
