Here's When Americans Rise'N' Shine?

Dolly Parton’s popular song, "9 to 5", details bleary-eyed individuals tumbling out of bed and stumbling to the kitchen to pour themselves a cup of ambition. While this tune accurately depicts the morning routines of many, what we didn’t know before is what time this was all happening. Thanks to a new custom survey from Edison Research, we now know exactly what time Americans 13+ wake up on weekdays.

Just over 30% of Americans 13+ are awake by 6am during the weekday. The two most popular half hour increments Americans set their alarms for are between 6am-6:30am and 7am-7:30am.

Edison Research data indicates that most Americans are waking up slightly later than before the COVID-19 pandemic, a shift attributed to altered work schedules and more time spent at home. This finding comes from Edison's ongoing Share of Ear study, a daily audio diary project that monitors both wake-up times and how people engage with audio throughout their day.
