The 51st American Music Awards, the world’s largest fan-voted awards show, celebrated top music talent on May 26, 2025, at the Fontainebleau Las Vegas. Hosted by Jennifer Lopez, the ceremony aired live on CBS and Paramount+, marking its debut in Las Vegas and on Memorial Day.
Billie Eilish swept all seven of her nominated categories, including Artist of the Year, Album of the Year (HIT ME HARD AND SOFT), and Favorite Pop Song ("Birds of a Feather"). Kendrick Lamar, leading with 10 nominations, won only Favorite Hip-Hop Song for "Not Like Us," despite competing for major categories like Artist and Album of the Year. Post Malone, with eight nominations, secured two country awards: Favorite Male Country Artist and Favorite Country Song ("I Had Some Help" feat. Morgan Wallen).
Taylor Swift, the AMAs’ all-time leader with 40 wins, had six nominations but left empty-handed. Fans speculated about a potential album announcement or Reputation (Taylor’s Version) reveal, but Swift did not attend, dashing those hopes. SZA won two awards (Favorite Female R&B Artist and Favorite R&B Song for "Saturn"), while Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars each claimed three, including Collaboration of the Year and Favorite Music Video for "Die With a Smile."
Special honors included the Icon Award for Janet Jackson, the Lifetime Achievement Award for Rod Stewart, and the inaugural Veterans Voice Award for Zac Brown. Performances featured Lopez’s opening dance number, alongside Benson Boone, Gwen Stefani, Lainey Wilson, Blake Shelton, Gloria Estefan, Reneé Rapp, and Becky G with Manuel Turizo.
