Today marks a significant milestone for KMOX as it officially begins simulcasting its programming on 104.1 FM (WHHL).
The move expands KMOX's reach by adding a full-market 50 Kw FM signal to its existing 1120 AM frequency, which has been its home since the station’s inception nearly a century ago. The simulcast enhances the listening experience for its audience with the clearer, richer sound quality that FM provides, while still maintaining its powerful 50,000-watt AM signal that covers much of the Central United States and beyond.

KMOX, known as "NewsRadio 1120 - The Voice of St. Louis," is a legendary station owned by Audacy, Inc., offering a mix of news, talk, and sports programming.
The FM expansion comes just days before the St. Louis Cardinals’ baseball season opener on March 27, a strategic timing given KMOX’s long-standing role as the flagship station for Cardinals broadcasts. The addition of 104.1 FM replaces its previous simulcast on a lower-power FM translator at 98.7 (K254CR), which had a more limited range.
As part of this transition, the former occupant of 104.1 FM, "Hot 104.1" (WHHL), a hip-hop and R&B station, has shifted to 98.7 FM and rebranded as "Hot 98.7," continuing its music format in a jockless, automated form following staff layoffs earlier this month.
Audacy St. Louis leadership, including SVP/Market Manager Becky Domyan and VP of News/Talk/Sports Steve Moore, have expressed enthusiasm about broadening KMOX’s accessibility while preserving its legacy and commitment to the community. The simulcast is also available for streaming via KMOX.com and the Audacy app, ensuring nationwide access.
