Venu Sports Streaming To Cost $43 Monthly

Venu Sports, the sports streaming venture from Fox, Disney’s ESPN, and Warner Bros. Discovery WBD will cost fans $42.99 a month, the platform announced on Thursday.

Scheduled to launch this fall, Venu will stream games and content that incudes the National Football League, Major League Baseball, the National Basketball League, the National Hockey League and Division I college football and basketball.

The Wall Street Journal reports the streaming service will provide access to 14 live sports channels and a library of on-demand content from the companies’ sports networks.

Around the time it was announced earlier this year, Citi analysts estimated the new service to encompass about 55% of U.S. sports rights.

The $42.99 price tag is significantly cheaper than the traditional cable TV bundle, which can cost north of $100 a month. It is also cheaper than YouTube TV, which costs $73 a month. Subscribers will also get a 7-day free trial at sign up. Subscribers will be locked in at the $42.99 rate for 12 months from when they sign up with the ability to cancel at any time.

One of Venu’s main draws is access to NBA games, for which ESPN and Warner’s TNT currently share the media rights. But the league recently signed new 11-year deals worth $77 billion that will go into effect after the 2024-25 season with NBCUniversal, ESPN and Amazon, leaving TNT out after a decades-long partnership.
