Facebook Admits Censorship 'Error'

Facebook has acknowledged that it made an error in censoring the iconic image of former President Donald Trump defiantly raising his fist in the immediate aftermath of the July 13 assassination attempt in Pennsylvania.

A user had posted the photo on Mark Zuckerberg’s platform, but it was initially flagged as misinformation.

However, on Monday, a spokesperson for Meta (Facebook’s parent company) admitted the mistake and clarified that the fact-checking label was incorrectly applied to the real photo. The photo, which shows Trump with blood streaming down his face as he pumps his fist, is now recognized as authentic.

X users sympathetic to Trump posted screenshots of Meta AI answers that were given in response to prompts about the attempted assassination.
